MA SARADA SWANIRVAR KENDRA

Ramakrishna Math (Baghbazar), a branch center of Ramakrishna Math, Belur is located in Baghbazar with a large area of slum dwellers and the downtrodden population nearby. In the year 2014, the plight of local slum dwellers residing at Canal side of Beliaghata Circular Canal had prompted us to consider the multi-faceted approach for the upliftment of the local community, especially, in regard to women who are very much vulnerable to human trafficking, who were working merely as house-maids in the locality. To plan proper implementation of the project of empowering local population coming from the lower strata of the society, Ma Sarada Vocational Training Centre was established in the 2nd floor of Udbodhan Building in June 2014with the affiliation received from MSME, Govt. of India and West Bengal State Council of Technical Education, Kolkata for imparting training on Computers (Basic, Fundamentals and Accounting withTally) with just 10 PCs. Computers issued by MSME, Govt. For womenfolk, we started imparting guidance in forming Self- help groups among local women who were interested in Tailoring course so that after training they can continue with same trade and earn their own living. By January 2015, training to SHG members got due recognition from the Ministry of SHG and SE, Govt. of West Bengal, who were very much keen to assist 14 separate SHG groups on their path to self-reliance. and on 15th March 2015, West Bengal Swarojgar Corporation took initiative in funding for training cum production center in the the ground floor of annex building of Holy Mother’s House. A new identity for the establishment was given as Ma Sarada Swanirvar Kendra set up with joint collaboration with West Bengal Swarojgar Corporation limited under the aegis of Ministry of SHG and SE, Govt. of West Bengal. In July 2018, a new training centre was set up at 20 Prankrishna Mukherjee Road,Kolkata-2 enabling us to undertake all training program under one roof.
